Milestones in Space Industry: SpaceANT-D Launch Commemorated by SpaceIn, Malaysia Space Agency, USM, and Digital Penang

[Kuala Lumpur, 7 Dec 2023] – SpaceIn, in collaboration with the Malaysia Space Agency, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and Digital Penang, host an event to celebrate the successful launch of the SpaceANT-D satellite. Launched by SpaceX on November 12, 2023, and successfully deployed from Alba Orbital’s pod on November 29, SpaceANT-D is currently in the Launch and Early Orbit Phase, fine-tuning its orbital positioning.

The event showcases SpaceIn’s technological capabilities, emphasizing the company’s dedication to advancing space technology and contributing to Malaysia’s ambitious Space Exploration 2030 initiative.

SpaceANT-D, a technology demonstration satellite developed by USM and SpaceIn for store-and-forward missions, demonstrates Malaysia’s growing space exploration capabilities. The event also showcased the three innovative products from SpaceIn and USM: CaKEd (Cansat Kit for Education), High Altitude Balloon, and PocketQube SpaceANT, all of which use innovative satellite system technology.

During the event, SpaceIn is set to sign a contract to develop a prototype tracking system for forest management for Planters International Berhad, marking a significant milestone for the company. This project includes the development of the first satellite for Planters International Berhad, a two-year project with a contract value of RM 1 million.

In another key collaboration, SpaceIn signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sustainable Hrvest Sdn Bhd to develop a Satellite IoT System for agriculture, focusing on durian plantations. This partnership aims to harness satellite technology for enhanced agricultural practices and productivity.

During the same event, Apadilangit, in collaboration with USM and SpaceIn, will launch a micro-credential for the Space Engineer Apprentice program under the Apadilangit Academy. This program is designed to give students a thorough understanding of satellite technology, covering critical topics like design, development, and operation. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing students with the practical knowledge and skills required for success in space technology.
