In the recent event of World Space Week 2020, SpaceIn has collaborated with the SpaceVio, Pengakap Malaysia and MiSI to organize a Cansat Competition in the national levels. The cansat competition is a fully sponsored programme, aimed to spread the awareness on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education to the students.
As SpaceIn’s mission goes : Your gateway to Space, the winner of this competition will be offered a ride to the space! They will be able to utilize our High Altitude Balloon (HAB) as a space vehicle to launch their cansats to the stratosphere.
We are truly overwhelmed and happy with the response given by the students and teachers from every schools. Their high passion and curiosity has helped us to gage better with the teams. Amidst this Covid-19 pandemic, we launched an online platform for the teams to learn and gain tutorials.
On the first five days of the competition, every teams went through an introductory workshop to expose them to the satellite application and functions. Next, there were four-hours tutorial conducted by our facilitators and technical teams to help the students in coding and assembly of the cansat. The greatest challenge were to not be able to sit together as it was before this but their enthusiasm and determination encouraged us to pull ourselves together and make it happen!

Runner-up : UniKL MIAT
Second Runner-Up : SMK Seri Perak
To other teams, always remember that, you don’t lose when you are defeated but you lose if you quit! Therefore, congratulations to all teams for have succesfully develop their first-ever cansat!
